Summer Tops, Autumn Weather

Like every fashion obsessive being in the Northern Hemisphere this month I have felt an overwhelming need to clear the summer clothes out of my life and make way for the winter ones. To be perfectly honest I would say that my wardrobe is an all year round kind of situation. So in between seasons I don't so much as have a clear out in the sense that hundreds of pieces go into boxes and make their way to the attic, I just like to pull my new things to the front and get all the sunshine pieces into the drawers; where I will probably still get some wear out of them throughout the cold, horrendous, winter months. (Side Note: I hate any season that isn't summer)

Since moving to University in England and travelling across the big bad Irish Sea, I have learnt to be pretty minimal with my wardrobe. I'm not quite down to the '20 interchangeable, all you need' pieces just yet (in fact i don't think i will ever be at that), but I am quite minimal when it comes to clothes. I wear a lot of things over and over again, and most of all I absolutely hate throwing clothes in the bin. (see my last post all about my guilty fashion conscious and how I'm trying to change how I make)

When I wind up with pieces that don't fit me anymore, or I find just aren't right for my style or body shape, I like to try and make something new out of them before sending them off to the charity shop. Admittedly sometimes I'm just so sick of some things, that i do just bag them up and send them off! But I'm trying to change how I shop and how I make and so now that brings me to this Zara top.

I think I bought this is 2016 summer and Ive probably wore it 3/4 times. I always had issues with Zara clothing, it just never fit my body right. Too short, too small across the back or wayyyyyyyyyy to tight on the sleeves. And the next size up would be HUGE! It made no sense to me, only it does; because fast fashion sizes are shite and there is no possible way they can fit everyone. For the life of me though, I just can not throw this away! I love the style and the fabric and I just wish it would fit and i would have kept it forever! But it doesn't.

I am quite a lazy person when it comes to makes, I want things done fast so I can start to wear them. So the easiest thing to do if its tight across back?? Take the sleeves off! I don't know why I never thought of it before because I literally love this top now and I could have been wearing it all summer!! But it was stuck at the bottom of the drawer only for me to see it now when I'm packing the rest of my summer things alongside it to prepare for the cold, monotonous winter months.

I took these photos to show how I'm styling things for this transitional period. Finally got all the boots out of storage and I'm sad about putting away the birds for another year! Anyway traditional done right:

✔️ Suede
✔️ Leather
✔️ Camel colours

Its the magic combo, all you need for a back to school/ fashion month outfit!

But I'm still praying September will grace us with some end of summer sun so I can play out in my new favourite summer top before the jumpers come out. Lots of Love! Maria x
